Council Election Platform
We call for a radical extension of democracy on the Council. We want to see the big decisions about our future made by the elected Council and not by unelected boards.
We will expose all secret deals and demand that all debates on issues affecting the people are conducted in public.
We will oppose job cuts and privatisation which has removed vital services from public scrutiny.
We will oppose the scandalous waste of public money on Derry City airport.
We will demand the abolition of ILEX, which has virtually nothing to show for the £21 million it has spent since 2003. We want government investment money to be channelled through the City Council, where it should be used to benefit local people and communities, not serve the interest of property developers.
We believe that we need a campaign for massive government investment to create jobs, build public housing, develop our public transport system, expand the university and support public services.
