It’s the fact that the killing of Ronan Kerr served no purpose, even the political purpose of the perpetrators, which made the bombing last Saturday so depressing.
Nashman has put up a youtube video combining footage of Eamonn McCann speaking at Monday night's Election Campaign Launch with photos, cartoons, and music. Eamonn is flanked by Richard Boyd Barrett, recently-elected TD for the Dáil for Dún Laoghaire, and Connor Kelly, candidate for the Cityside ward in the Council election. You can also see Diane Greer, candidate for Waterside Rural in the Council election, for a few minutes at the start. People Before Profit is standing four candidates for Derry City Council in the 5 May elections.
They are Connor Kelly (Cityside ward), Diane Greer (Waterside Rural ward), Davy McAuley (Waterside ward) and Colm Bryce (Northland ward). Our call for More Local Democracy on Derry City Council is here, and a summary of our Local Platform is here. The Derry Journal has a report in today's edition about Monday's Election Launch in the City Hotel. You can also see the story on their website here.
Press Statement issued on Sunday by Eamonn McCann, People Before Profit candidate, Foyle:
The futility of the bombing which killed PSNI member Ronan Kerr in Omagh on Saturday must be clear to everybody - apart from the people who carried it out. |
